“How Reliable is Herodotus’ Account of the Persian Wars?
Answer by Paul Cartledge
Herodotus was not just any old historian but the founder of an entire intellectual discipline and practice, or craft, the one that I am honoured to try my hand at myself. Opinions differ today, as they always have done, on what exactly a historian’s chief task or aim should be, but Herodotus made a pretty good stab at adumbrating it in the famous Prooimion or Preface to his Histories (‘Researches’, ‘Enquiries’): he wished both to record for posterity and to celebrate ‘great and wonderful deeds or achievements (erga)’ and – above all, N.B. – to explain them. In his particular case what he wished to explain above all was why and how and thanks to whose responsibility Greeks and non-Greeks (principally Persians) had come to fight each other.
He had in mind as his subject what we today call the ‘Persian Wars’ or (more accurately) Helleno-Persian Wars, as those were fought out by land and sea on either side of the Aegean at the far eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea between 490 (Battle of Marathon) and 479 BC/BCE – or from 499 to 479, if one includes also the essential preliminary ‘Ionian Revolt’ (499-4), since this was the first occasion on which Greeks, then many of them subjects of the mighty Persian empire, had engaged in warfare with their ‘barbarian’ (non-Greek) masters in pursuit of the ideal of political freedom. That (unsuccessful) revolt gave Herodotus, himself an Eastern Greek from Asia Minor (Halicarnassus) and born c. 485 a Persian subject into a mixed Greek-barbarian family, his own dominant theme.
It was always clear to Herodotus where his linear chronological narrative would end – 479, with the final victory for those (few) Greek cities led by Sparta and Athens who had dared to resist the intended Persian conquest of all mainland Greece led by Emperor Xerxes. But where to begin? Herodotus boldly chose what we call the mid-6th century or c. 550 BCE for his starting point, but how could he possibly claim to know or at any rate confidently believe anything at all about events and processes ongoing some 70 years or two to three generations before his own birth? Given that he seems not to have been able to speak or read any language other than his own Greek (he wrote in the Ionic dialect but spoke in Doric), and given that the Hellenic world of the mid-6th century was not a world either of extensive official public documentation or of extensive prose-writing of a descriptive, factual nature, he had no choice but to become not only the world’s first historian but also the world’s first oral historian. That is to say, the chief type of evidence – not quite the only, since he does quote some documents and cite some physical monuments– that he gathered from about 450 to 430 was the oral testimony of either face-to-face or second-hand informants. Those informants moreover were either native Hellenophones or non-Greeks with a sufficient command of Greek.
It is hugely to his credit that Herodotus evolved a sophisticated hierarchy of value in interpreting such oral testimony, a hierarchy according to reliability. Top of the table was what he called opsis, or autopsy, meaning first-hand testimony whether of his own or of those of his informants who had actually viewed or participated in the events related, including evidence of physical monuments (another meaning of erga). After that, some way after, came what he called akoê or hearsay evidence, evidence that might reliably go back ultimately as far as two to three generations (but no farther) before his own time. Both types of evidence however were then further subjected to the reliability test: were his informants to be trusted – or might there perhaps be reasons why they would provide him knowingly or unknowingly (‘false memory syndrome’) with false testimony both as to facts and as to their interpretation?
At this point it’s necessary to state unequivocally that Herodotus was in no way an official historian, indeed his work has been characterised as the very denial of official history – that is, of the sort of records – or propaganda sheets – put out by middle eastern rulers or priestly castes. But even if he was not compiling and composing in the interests of any particular state or power-group, does that mean he was always himself disinterested either in what he chose to relate or in how he chose to relate it? Here Herodotus is vulnerable to two kinds of negative critique: first, that in interpreting the deeds of humans he nevertheless was too quick to invoke the notion of supernatural or divine intervention as an explanatory mode, that he was in short too theological; second, that he did not always sufficiently perceive the bias of his informants, whether they were members of an aristocratic Athenian family or members of a hereditary Egyptian priesthood. Both those critiques seem to me to have some force. And Herodotus himself was clearly very aware of the second: in response he claimed, somewhat speciously, that it was his job to ‘relate what he was told’ and that it shouldn’t be assumed he necessarily believed it. (I should probably here add that I do not myself believe the hyper-criticisms that have been levelled at Herodotus since antiquity, to the effect that he just made things up, or that, for example, he didn’t in fact view the monuments and cities abroad such as Babylon that he claimed or implied he had seen.)
Reliability, finally, operates on several levels – from a particular detail of his account of say the finally decisive Battle of Plataea all the way up to the alleged motivation of Xerxes in planning and effecting his simply massive expedition (though not as massive as Herodotus believed – here he was certainly guilty of considerable factual inaccuracy). If we make due allowance for an excess of theology, for a weakness for large numbers, and for an occasional prejudice in favour of or against a particular key player (for Athens at the Battle of Salamis, for instance, or against King Cleomenes I of Sparta and Themistocles, or – as Plutarch vehemently protested – medizing Thebes), then I think we may confidently say that Herodotus’ historical judgement is remarkably reliable given the conditions in which it had to be exercised.
I have left to the end a bit of a ‘stinger’. Almost all that I have written above applies to Herodotus the historian of the Helleno-Persian Wars conceived pretty much as we would frame that still vitally important topic today. Herodotus, however, deployed and depicted a far broader and richer canvas, since besides being that historian he was also what we would call today a pioneer ethnographer and comparative social anthropologist, interested to discover and compare the nomoi – laws and customs – of a multiplicity of non-Greek peoples living adjacent to the Hellenes, above all others the Egyptians (book 2) and a variety of what he called ‘Scythians’ (book 4). In this area Herodotus’s vulnerability to deception, disinformation or sheer ignorance was far greater, and his reliability correspondingly far smaller.
Further Reading suggestions: With apologies for apparent self-promotion, I develop the above discussion at greater length in my introduction to Tom Holland’s bold new Penguin Classics translation (London 2014). See also my 2017 (Chalke Valley History Festival) History Hub blogpost. An inventive way of re-reading Herodotus is William Shepherd’s The Persian War in Herodotus and Other Ancient Voices (Oxford 2019). A particularly good ‘very short introduction’ to Herodotus is Jennifer T. Roberts’ Herodotus (Oxford 2011). Roberts is also the editor of the excellent Norton Critical Edition of the Histories as translated by Walter Blanco and accompanied with a wide variety of supporting essays by Blanco (London 2013).’

Very good text from a very important Classicist. My only criticism is that I think that Pr. Cartledge does not take sufficiently into account the fact that Herodotus’ ethnography, despite its inevitable flaws and errors, offers often accurate and important information on the customs of non-Greek peoples (and even in other cases in his ethnography, in which Herodotus is mostly wrong, there is a kernel of truth in what he relates or at least he preserves aspects of how some ancient peoples of his time showed themselves, their past, and their neighbors).

Hair Styling Tools to Match Your Makeup Game
In today’s beauty-obsessed world, achieving a flawless look isn't just about the right foundation or lipstick. It's about perfect harmony—from head to toe. While makeup enhances your facial features, hair styling tools help shape your entire vibe. Whether you're creating a sleek, professional look for work or soft curls for a night out, your hair can either elevate or disrupt your makeup game.
Let’s explore how choosing the right hair styling tools can complement your makeup routine—and elevate your entire beauty look. From hair styling tools for women to options tailored for men, this guide helps you align your style, one strand at a time.
The Art of Matching Hair with Makeup
Before diving into the world of professional hair styling tools, let’s understand one core principle: balance. The right hairstyle can accentuate your jawline, frame your eyes, or highlight your cheekbones. Similarly, certain hair textures and shapes can either blend seamlessly with your makeup or clash with it.
For instance:
A bold smoky eye pairs well with sleek straight hair to avoid overpowering the look.
Soft curls beautifully complement a dewy, natural makeup style.
High ponytails and top buns allow your bold lip colors or dramatic lashes to take center stage.
Whether you're using natural cosmetic products or high-impact makeup from a brand cosmetic product, styling your hair right creates that finished, put-together look.
Must-Have Hair Styling Tools for Every Makeup Mood
1. Hair Dryers – For the Perfect Blowout
A quality hair dryer is more than a quick-fix tool—it’s the foundation of most hairstyles. For a smooth, voluminous finish, opt for a professional hair styling tool with multiple heat settings and ionic technology to reduce frizz.
Tip: Pair a bouncy blowout with subtle makeup and peach-toned blush for a radiant day look.
2. Hair Straighteners – Sleek, Sharp & Modern
Perfect for those who love structure, hair straighteners create a polished look. Ideal for formal events or power dressing, straight hair aligns beautifully with contoured makeup and a matte finish foundation.
Best suited for: Oval or round faces
Works well with: Neutral eyeshadow palettes and bold eyeliner
Look for ceramic plates and adjustable temperature settings when browsing hair styling tools in India to protect your hair and ensure lasting results.
3. Curling Wands & Tongs – Soft Glam, Always in Style
Loose waves or tight curls can change your entire aesthetic. Whether you’re heading for brunch or a romantic dinner, curls bring femininity and softness. They pair wonderfully with bronzed cheeks, highlighter, and glossy lips.
Hair styling tools for women should include at least one curling tool with barrel options to suit various curl types.
Pro Tip: For a “no-makeup makeup look,” use a thin-barrel curler and let your curls do the talking.
4. Hair Crimpers – Retro with a Modern Twist
Crimped hair is making a comeback! Paired with minimal makeup and nude tones, it makes a bold, textured statement. Crimpers add instant volume and dimension to thin or flat hair.
Ideal for parties, editorial looks, or retro-themed days
Complements: Winged eyeliner and metallic eye shadow
When buying hair styling tools in India, choose a lightweight crimper with heat protection features to reduce hair damage.
5. Hot Brushes & Stylers – Effortless Everyday Glam
Combining the ease of a brush with the power of heat, hot air brushes are great for daily styling. These tools allow you to dry, detangle, and style your hair in one go. Match with a fresh-faced makeup style using natural cosmetic products for an effortless finish.
Ideal for: Working professionals, busy moms, and students who want to look good with minimal effort.
Hair Styling Tools for Men: Grooming Meets Style
Gone are the days when hair styling tools for men were limited to combs and gel. Modern men are investing in tools to shape their hairstyle just as meticulously as their grooming routine.
Popular Hair Styling Tools for Men:
Beard straighteners for a neat, groomed look
Mini hair dryers for quick drying without frizz
Trimmers with precision blades for clean hairlines
Straighteners to manage thick or wavy hair for a clean-cut appearance
Pair these tools with beauty cosmetic products like matte moisturizers and subtle concealers to refine the look without overdoing it.
Natural Looks? Use Natural Cosmetic Products & Styling Tools Together
If your go-to aesthetic is all about clean beauty and minimalism, use natural cosmetic products with tools that don’t require extreme heat. Think low-temp hot brushes, air-drying tools, and curling tools with moisture-locking tech.
Brands are increasingly developing eco-conscious beauty cosmetic products that go hand-in-hand with low-damage tools. This pairing supports not only a gentler approach to beauty but also keeps your hair and skin healthier in the long run.
Best Practices to Maintain Hair Health While Styling
Even the best hair styling tools for women and men can damage hair if used incorrectly. Follow these practices to keep your hair healthy and your makeup pop:
Always use a heat protectant before styling
Avoid using maximum heat daily
Clean your styling tools regularly
Allow hair to cool down before brushing or setting
Pair your look with hydrating, brand cosmetic products to balance the overall glam
Final Thoughts: Style Smarter, Not Harder
Your makeup might define your face, but your hair sets the tone for your entire presence. By investing in quality hair styling tools—matched to your beauty style, hair type, and daily needs—you ensure every look feels cohesive and complete.
Whether you're drawn to classic, professional looks or you prefer experimental fashion moments, there’s a perfect tool (and cosmetic combo) out there for you. Explore the complete range of hair styling tools in India at GlamPlus Store and step up your beauty game—one fabulous hair flip at a time.

For munday - 🎧🍦🤔💯
munday asks! // accepting!
🎧 — do you write while listening to music/podcasts/videos/etc, or do you need total silence?
Unfortunately I tend to get really distracted by anything with lyrics, so I lean toward silence but also enjoy a good instrumental if I can find one that fits the vibe. One I tend to put on and try to close my eyes + do totally mindless sprints to is Ludovico Einaudi’s Eros.
🍦 — favorite ice cream flavor(s)?
The older I get, I find I like plain vanilla more and more. But chocolate chip cookie dough is always a favorite! Mint chocolate chip, too!
🤔 — what genre(s)/theme(s) do you struggle to write the most?
Interestingly, it’s the lighthearted/silly stuff for me (as much as I love it). I lean pretty hard into angst, drama, feels, introspection, etc. so it’s usually difficult for me to activate a different part of my brain and jump into “chaos and shenanigans” mode.
💯 — share three random facts about yourself that your mutuals may not know about you.
Okay, these are always so difficult for me but let’s see…
1. I’m absolutely fascinated by classical and historical architecture. This is something I’ve only recently discovered about myself but like… I can spend ridiculous amounts of time looking at old buildings - anything from ancient temples up to maybe… Gothic revival? I have zero interest in modern architecture, but if I could go off and study/look at Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns, flying buttresses, ziggurats and pyramids etc. and KNOW I’d find a career in it I absolutely would.
2. I have also only recently discovered that I think I would have enjoyed being a theater kid in school, so that’s a thing I wish I could go back and do over. (I feel like it took me 30 years to find out what I was interested in. ;^;)
3. As a general rule, I hate sleeping. There are just so many things I want to do at all times and even despite my complete lack of a social life, I still feel like I never have enough hours to myself in a day to get them all done? Like right now I want to be reading AND watching One Piece, rereading the ACOTAR series, cross stitching, taking pottery classes, and learning to play the cello - and that’s just off the top of my head for THIS particular moment. But yeah, this tends to translate to only sleeping 4-5 hours a night because I gotta be up doing things! If I go to bed before midnight or sleep past 8am, it usually means something is wrong with me. (Fun fact 3B: I am absolutely a morning person AND a night owl. I love any quiet hour most of the world around me is asleep.)

My Top Ten Favourite Moments in Sonic Games
The past 30 years the Sonic series has had a lot of memorable moments, too many to list fully, so in celebration of my recent follower milestone, today I’ll be presenting and explaining my personal top ten favourite moments. I would like to emphasise that this list is very subject and is highly influenced by my personal experiences with the Sonic series. It’s not intended to be objective by any means, and I would love to hear what moments you guys would put on your own lists! Additionally, this list is only for things from the games, in the future I’ll make another list for other Sonic media
Without further ado, let’s get started!
10) City Escape’s GUN truck
Interesting set pieces and small scripted moments in levels have been a staple in the Sonic series since the beginning. Sure, they’re not always challenging from a game-play standpoint, but they’re always an entertaining spectacle. One of the most ionic of these moments (and one of my personal favourites) is being chased by the GUN truck. City Escape is already a highly memorable level from the get-go, but the truck sequence is the cherry on top. An additional shout-out to both of the Generations versions of the level for not only bringing it back but changing it up just enough to surprise you and keep you on your toes!
9) Escaping Null Space
Forces is one of those games that I would describe as a truly mixed bag. Yeah, there are a lot of things about the game that kinda sucked or were disappointing, but when it hit a high, BOY did it hit. While I agree with many people that having the Null Space portion of this level actually have gameplay in it would’ve made this moment impact a little harder, I’m just in love with that transition from the silence of null space to the bombastic chorus of Fist Bump. I thought it was a really exciting moment that hypes you up for the rest of the level.
8) Sonic Heroes’ opening cinematic
Heroes was my first 3D Sonic game, and consequently it was my introduction to a lot of things that are staples for the Sonic series. Vocal themes, an extended cast and their interpersonal relationships, story routes that connect to each other. These are some of my favourite things about the Sonic series, so even if some aspects of the game aren’t that great, I could never ever hate or even dislike Heroes. I feel like the opening cinematic to Heroes (the one with the theme song as the music) is the aspect of Heroes that really encapsulates those feelings best. I must’ve spent hours as a kid letting it play over and over again singing along to it.
7) Shadow the Hedgehog (2004) title screen cinematic
Before you laugh, here is where I must remind you that this list is extremely subjective and highly influenced by my personal experiences and memories. Ok now imagine this: you are a 7-8 year old kid, and your experience with media that isn’t mainstream radio or educational children’s tv shows is fairly limited. You’re getting deep into the Sonic series for the first time thanks to playing Heroes and seeing some of the cartoons and you’re interested to know more about the series. You visit Sonic Central, the official site at the time, and they have a music player with a variety of songs from the games. One of the songs it plays is I Am (All of Me). I won’t lie, I was a little blown away because I’d never really heard anything like it before, so I go to find out more about the game it’s from and I come across that opening cinematic.
I think it’s very, very, easy as an adult to laugh at the Shadow the Hedgehog game and it’s… direction, but adult me was not the target audience of that game, kid me was. Say what you want but the effect that game was going for I think is something that just hits best with sheltered little kids, and I’d be curious if anyone else had a similar experience.
6) The ending of Sonic and the Black Knight

I won’t go into too much detail on this one, since this is very much a fan favourite moment and many others have gone into detail about why it’s so great. Black Knight is certainly one of the games that captures Sonic’s character the best, and his words at the end of the game certainly encapsulate this. Followed by the amazing credits theme of Live Life, the ending of Black Knight is certainly one of the most emotional moments in the series.
5) Sonic Generation’s credits
Anniversary games can be a bit of a controversial subject for the Sonic fandom; 06 was one of the games released for the 15th anniversary while Forces is often considered to be a 25th anniversary game. I think Generations really achieved the feeling and the specialness of a celebratory event though. It’s one of my favourite Sonic games and the whole game is full of brilliant moments but I feel the credits really evoke the celebration vibe: a Sonic 1-esque music melody as the credits song, showing footage from the original games each stage is from, and the cherry on top: a ‘Happy Birthday’ message to Sonic recorded from fans who attended the 2011 Sonic Boom and Summer of Sonic conventions. It genuinely warms my heart every time I finish the game.
4) Metropolis Capital City level
Forces gets another representation on this list! Honestly, I believe the parts of Forces that were exciting, such as this, really demonstrate my opinion that Forces had a lot of potential to be a really good game. But I digress, this was my favourite level from Forces because it shows how fun of a villain Infinite could be. The way that Infinite follows you for most of the stage and uses illusions to fuck around with the stage itself? That’s really fun, and it’s not just stage gimmicks for the sake of having a gimmick, it ties into the powers of the villain and makes the player feel involved in a way because Infinite is messing around with you specifically and is having to make to think on your toes. Granted, part of makes this stage stand out so much in a good way is because it’s so different from the rest of the game and it takes you by surprise, so maybe the impact wouldn’t be as hard hitting if this sort of design was used more in the game, but c’mon when you have a villain who’s powers are illusion-based, the sky’s the limit!
3) Sonic Unleashed’s opening cutscene
Can you believe this game came out over a decade ago and the opening cutscene still looks this stunning?! Depending on who you ask, some might even argue that this cutscene has yet to be topped, and honestly, I’m in that camp. Not only is the rendering beautiful and the choreography of the action exciting, but this scene does a wonderful job of setting up for the viewer regardless of how much prior experience they have with the series who Sonic and Dr. Eggman are, as well as setting up the events of the game. I recall being very happy when I heard the animation team for this cutscene would also be handling the animation for the movie.
2) Beating Sonic Unleashed for the first time
So, this is another pretty personal one. I played Unleashed for the first time a few years ago and it is in my opinion, one of the most difficult Sonic games. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes for completely bullshit reasons. My first ever run of Eggmanland was around 40 minutes long and apparently that’s considered a pretty decent time for your first go, but christ it was a nightmare to finish (looking at you, that one section where you have to platform on pipes without a drop-shadow). The following boss sections weren’t much easier- I don’t rage much with video games, I tend to whisper swears under my breath at most but that part where you’re running on the Gaia Colossus had me screaming in anger every time I lost a life.
BUT when I finally beat the difficult sections? Felt like finally cracking your back after feeling stiff all day. Like taking the first sip of water after a walk on a hot day. The relief and satisfaction I felt was indescribable and slowly winding down while Dear My Friend plays as the credits theme was blissful. I don’t play difficult games that often so Unleashed is one of very few games that I have this sort of memory with.
1) Watching my dad get the good ending of Sonic 1

Here’s a small amount of backstory for this pick. My dad got his first job at 19 and he used his first pay-check to purchase the then newly released Sega Mega Drive. He had a lot of games for the console including Sonic the Hedgehog. He kept the console and games in good condition, and they were still perfectly playable by the time his first child was born (aka me!). Sonic 1 was the first video game I can remember playing at roughly 2-3 years old. I wasn’t good enough to get past Green Hill Act 3 but I loved watching my dad play through the game.
I’ll admit; his playstyle’s a little odd, he avoids speed when he can and instead, he likes to search for as many rings and extra lives as possible, but it was so enjoyable to watch nonetheless. The best bit was whenever he would manage to get all the chaos emeralds in a playthrough and be able to get the good ending. Sure, the only difference between the good and bad endings is just some flowers, but it was nice to see him be happy that he was able to achieve that ending.
And that’s the end of my list! Upon looking over it I realise most of it is either openings or endings to games…oops. I suppose they tend to be parts of games that get special attention during development since they bookend the journey. When I get around to making the second list, I’m sure it’ll have more variety, and as I said before, I’d be very interested in hearing what everyone else’s favourite moments are!

Day 8 of 30 Days of Apollon
Variations on this deity (aspects, regional forms, etc.)
If we look at the cults of Apollon we can see that not only was he worshipped all over Greece but also Asia Minor (Anatolia), Cyprus (considered the Mediterranean), Egypt, and by the Gauls in France.
The etymology of his name causes much confusing as with slightly different spelling it seems to come from numerous places all over Greece.
Apollo (Attic, Ionic, and Homeric Greek: Ἀπόλλων, Apollōn (GEN Ἀπόλλωνος); Doric: Ἀπέλλων, Apellōn; Arcadocypriot: Ἀπείλων, Apeilōn; Aeolic: Ἄπλουν, Aploun; Latin: Apollō)
The name Apollo—unlike the related older name Paean—is generally not found in the Linear B (Mycenean Greek) texts, although there is a possible attestation in the lacunose form ]pe-rjo-[ (Linear B: ]𐀟𐁊-[) on the KN E 842 tablet.[4][5][6]
The etymology of the name is uncertain. The spelling Ἀπόλλων (pronounced [a.pól.lɔːn] in Classical Attic) had almost superseded all other forms by the beginning of the common era, but the Doric form, Apellon (Ἀπέλλων), is more archaic, as it is derived from an earlier *Ἀπέλjων. It probably is a cognate to the Doric month Apellaios (Ἀπελλαῖος),[7] and the offerings apellaia (ἀπελλαῖα) at the initiation of the young men during the family-festival apellai (ἀπέλλαι).[8][9] According to some scholars, the words are derived from the Doric word apella (ἀπέλλα), which originally meant "wall," "fence for animals" and later "assembly within the limits of the square."[10][11] Apella (Ἀπέλλα) is the name of the popular assembly in Sparta,[10] corresponding to the ecclesia (ἐκκλησία). R. S. P. Beekes rejected the connection of the theonym with the noun apellai and suggested a Pre-Greek proto-form *Apalyun.[12]
He also has many epithets from around the world so it is unclear where he was first worshipped.
My favourite epithet connects him to Welsh/ Cymraeg mythology which I also worship as lower gods who are part of the Hellenic/ Greek Gods retinue. (syncretism baby!)
Apollo Maponus. A god known from inscriptions in Britain. This may be a local fusion of Apollo and Maponus.
Maponos surfaces in the Middle Welsh narrative, the Mabinogion, as Mabon, son of Modron (a similar character in Welsh literature is Mabon son of Mellt, who may in fact be the same as Mabon son of Modron), who is herself the continuation of Gaulish Matrona (“Matronly Spirit”). The theme of Maponos son of Matrona (literally, child of mother) and the development of names in the Mabinogi from Common Brythonic and Gaulish theonyms has been examined by Hamp (1999), Lambert (1979), and Meid (1991). Mabon apparently features in the tale of a newborn child taken from his mother at the age of three nights, and is explicitly named in the story of Culhwch ac Olwen. His name lives on in Arthurian romance in the guise of Mabon, Mabuz, and Mabonagrain.
Considering his aspects he is rather a binary god, considering his epithets he represents both the good and the bad, for example:
He worshipped as the God of foreigners by sailers and a god of refugees but he is also the god of colonists and fugitives
He is a God of healing but also of the plague
He is a god of the arts and the learning of music but flayed the skin off a contester for believing they were better than him
He is worshipped as the ‘averter of evil’ but is also said to damn humans etc who go against him
The prophecies that his oracles give to worshippers would be difficult to understand, meaning that they would be carried out despite the persons best intentions to stop them.
He is also considered a God of Light which means knowledge, and that also can be bad and good because as you know, “where ignorance is bliss, 'Tis folly to be wise.” (18th-century ode by Thomas Gray)

Leverage the Benefits of Mobile App Development with The Ionic Framework

‘Ionic is the most native-like a framework for the development of iconic mobile application development surveyed by Kissmetrics’
The alliance of mobile apps with the native-like framework is inseparable. When the mobile UI and UX matter most for the varied ionic app development company the kin to develop an iconic mobile application using ‘Ionic’ a native-like a framework considered by the Ionic app developers most.
Talking about the Ionic antiquity, it was initially released six years ago (2013) by drifty. As it is open-source and available under MIT license the developers found it code-friendly framework for mobile app development.
What is Ionic Framework?
Ionic is an open-source HTML5 based framework for designing hybrid applications. Hybrid apps are rich in Webview which offered many advantages compared to the native applications in terms of speed, coding, testing, and performance criteria.
Ionic apps are well-written in HTML, Javascript, and CSS which helps developer, customer, and owner to feel the UI and UX utmost. This is the reason behind the inception of Ionic 4 development, supported by Angular.
Although, you might agree with my statement that ‘the lives of mobile apps is strictly based on its UI’. Perhaps, Ionic can be considered as an app-friendly UI framework that handles hard of hardest UI interactions of application with the support of native elements and excels design.
Leveraging The Benefits Of Ionic App Development
1. It is Easy to Ratify
One of the topmost benefits of opting Ionic is that the developer found it easy to use, adapt, and use. The HTML, Javascript, and CSS are easy to learn, if a developer familiar with it, then development turns into an effective one.
For the enterprise, it is easy to welcome ionic if their requirement and needs call for the hybrid application development.
2. Developer Friendly UI
In the market, you have many options to pick and leverage with friendly UI. But, in case you want extra or say something unique with flexibility, you might turn your attention to the Ionic UI framework.
The themes and components of Ionic are customizable like folding mobs. Although the ionic framework allows add and adapt the components on which the application running.
3. Powered by AngularJs
We know that Ionic series of 3 and 4 are powered by Angular Js. So, when it comes to the functionality test, the developer will never compromise in that.
The use of AngularJs allows the Ionic developers to provide a robust structure and intuitive interface that makes the code more manageable.
4. The Winner of Performance
The performance metric of Ionic is magnificent. The native mobile app framework code utilizes in PhoneGap (Apache Cordova) which renders higher-performance compared to hybrid applications. AngularJs accelerate the native hardware performance, GPU level, and maximize available processor time.
5. Utilization of Cordova Plugins
The Ionic framework utilize the world’s most rich Cordova Plugin in the app’s inception. The designer and developer can access different components according to the need of time and adjustment.
The Cordova plugins can access features like GPS, Camera, Flashlight, and more where further developers use these features to add in application prototype.
6. Support C.P
At last, the most immersible benefit of using ionic for app development is that it supports cross-platform app development i.e. developer has the option to deploy apps for multiple platforms. Ionic is a complete front-end SDK for cross-platform app development.
